1. What data Refocus collects

Refocus may process limited browser-related data strictly necessary for its core functionality, including:

• Time spent on websites
• Idle/inactive periods
• User-defined settings and preferences
• Reminder thresholds, focus settings, and locally stored extension state

Refocus does not collect personally identifying information such as full name, home address, phone number, passport data, or payment details unless the user independently provides such data outside the extension.

2. What Refocus does not collect

Refocus does not collect, read, or store:

• Passwords, login credentials, or authentication secrets
• Personal messages, emails, or chat contents
• Payment or financial information
• Medical information
• Precise geolocation data
• Keystrokes entered by the user
• Mouse clicks, typed text, or page form inputs
• Website page content beyond what is technically necessary for the extension’s visible reminder interface

Refocus does not sell, rent, or trade user data.

Refocus does not share user data with third parties except where disclosure is required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request.

6. Permissions used by the extension

Refocus may use the following Chrome permissions strictly for its core functionality:

• tabs — to detect the active tab and measure time spent on websites
• storage — to save settings and local extension state
• alarms — to run scheduled background timing checks
• idle — to detect inactive periods and avoid counting idle time as active browsing
• host permissions — to operate on websites the user visits for timing and reminder functionality

7. Remote code

Refocus does not use remote code.

All executable code is packaged inside the extension bundle. Refocus does not fetch or execute external JavaScript or WebAssembly code at runtime.

8. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are taken to protect data processed by Refocus against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no technical method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. User choices

Users may stop all data processing by Refocus at any time by disabling or uninstalling the extension.

Users may also clear locally stored extension data through their browser settings or by resetting the extension’s configuration, if such functionality is available.
